I DO NOT miss my narcissist, not a bit! Today, I was able to visit with my daughter, take a FaceTime call with my son, enjoy a spur of the moment art exhibit. Drove to visit friends with disco music blaring! My narcissist restricted my movements, controlled my time & attention.

My covert narcissist acted as if he was a gift to me. The reality: he had terrible breath (hadn't seen a dentist in a decade), dangling nose hairs & long ridged toenails (I'd ask him to trim, he never did on his own), big belly, ED (a blessing) and didn't bathe thoroughly. Ugh!
I never, ever replied to texts or phone calls quickly enough to satisfy my narcissist.

I think this was how I ended up with husband #2, a Covert Narcissist. He saw opportunity as I wrapped up 5 years of legal maneuvering by #1 to reverse a sensible divorce judgement. #2 could not have been more different from husband #1, a Psychopath "with a touch of narcissism."
I could infuriate my narcissist by deflecting questions he'd ask me with malintent. Instead of playing into his hand, I'd ask a question in return. Or make a benign observation. This worked for a while, but then he got wise to the deflections. Then I'd just laugh.
