@jasminexETH Everyone’s. That includes asking a friend you haven’t seen for a while for lunch, as well as socialising with the quiet coworker and inviting them for a post work drink. We all benefit from a society where people are social and mix with as many different people as possible.

@jasminexETH One way to think about it is it’s pretty likely you met a lot of your friends while doing something you are forced to do (school, uni, work etc) or friends of those people. Good chance your parents met at work as well. It’s a vital way of meeting people that most won’t replace.

@jasminexETH In an ideal world yes. But moving from work being the main place people socialise with new people, to no socialisation at work at all in less than a decade, whist making it easier and easier to stay home all the time, will leave people behind, especially those who struggle now.

@oedidumpacct @br0sferatu your life, spend your time scrolling, order food delivery. SOME extroverted and committed individuals may be able to socialise well without that forced contact, but I think a large, even a majority of people won’t be able to, because it’s hard and scrolling is easy.

@oedidumpacct @br0sferatu Yeah totally disagree. Friends are important, but it’s healthy to regularly socialise outside your friendship bubble, including people who you may not particularly like. That used to be just part of life, but we live in an age where it’s so easy to remove all friction from

@kuta_isi @oedidumpacct @br0sferatu time scrolling. Not saying it’s all bad, a day or two a week is pretty useful, especially if you have errands that are inconvenient on weekends etc, but actually meeting people you work with is good for you socially and productively.

@kuta_isi @oedidumpacct @br0sferatu Never said that. I just think most people underestimate how much forcing people to meet people that aren’t their current friends is integral to how society works. For every person who takes advantage of full WFH and goes out and meets new people, many more likely spend the extra

@oedidumpacct @br0sferatu The problem is that it is. People are lazy, socialising is hard. Work forces you to see people. There is a good chance your parents met at work. Likely a good number of your friends are, or are friends of, people you were forced to see every day (work or school).

@orionscorpse @its_duey Stores yes, but I feel the reason city trees are sterile is less to do with a nefarious government initiative, and more to stop a trillion fruit trees growing on and around public areas and infrastructure which is a huge hassle to deal with and clean up.

@adamrshields @JBforThr33 @sm Perhaps, but really it should be both, 3rd grade definitely at the point where you should be definitely starting to memorise. Too late and kids will work out the times tables each time they use them which isn’t really the best or most efficient way.

@JBforThr33 @sm Well yes but to know how to arrive at an answer is easier with foundational knowledge like times tables, which you gotta memorise. And yes we always have our phones, but you really should memorise basic facts in all subjects, life is considerably easier that way.

@JBforThr33 @sm It is useful, but you really should have times tables up to at least 12 memorised, it makes your life so much easier, and allows you to calculate larger numbers quicker (e.g. 40*70 is trivial if you know 4*7). It’s just foundational knowledge, same with basic equations.

@JohnsonBos29095 @ILikeIke99 @BillTheKid1603 If it’s not scrapped we will still be skint because we got taxed to oblivion while working to support it, but we won’t receive it for ourselves as the cost will dominate the national budget.

@glumpsterfuck Density is actually not the problem I think, the oceans do feel a decent size when playing. The issue imo is land connects instead of water, so you can feel boxed in when in a boat. If it was like this it would fix most issues.

@unbowedheretic @adogontwit @2006Sable People have an odd mindset when it comes to these where they are insistent that it is totally 100% legal to be on 60 the entire thing and police can’t do anything, when clearly and obviously you can’t for 90%+ of the road in many cases.

@unbowedheretic @adogontwit @2006Sable Yes you can technically go 60 but on some of these roads police would do you for doing 60 for dangerous driving. It’s basically saying “choose an appropriate speed, with a max of 60”. 60 round a tight, blind, single track bend is obviously not a safe speed.

@night_hawk1984 @oliverhenry @AlecDacyczyn The speed limit on these kinds of roads really is 60mph, but on the bit he was on you would have to be mad to do it.
