“Without vision, the people perish” (Prov 29:18) isn’t about your pastor’s “Vision 2025.” It’s about prophetic revelation.
When a leader’s strategy becomes a no-questions-asked, untestable, authoritative ‘word of the Lord’—he stops pointing to God, and starts playing God.
Preaching eventually teaches people something about how to read the Bible.
It’s why we need to “show our work.”
They should be able to see how we aren’t just clever or creative — but that what we are saying comes from what the text is saying.
Many people believe in a Jesus who would NEVER judge or deal out wrath because that would be cruel.
The Bible shows us Jesus who is holding back judgment for a time, because he is patient and desires people to get saved, but he will judge one day because he is holy.
When…
By the way, the first thing that should be guarded in the church is the front door. More than a membership class, every potential member should meet with a church pastor/elder to at least examine his/her belief in the gospel, doctrinal fidelity, and personal walk with God.

The existence of flaky charismatics no more disproves continuationism than the existence of spiritually dead Calvinists disproves Reformed doctrine. The question is: what does the Word say?
It’s these all sufficient scriptures that tell me to, “earnestly desire to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues.”(1 Cor 14:39). Sadly, some people have invented a doctrine of cessationism and teach their flock not to obey the clear apostolic commands from scripture.

This is another example of rhetoric that stirs malice and division on an already difficult topic.
Complementarians simply don’t believe “NO WOMAN can TEACH them anything.”
Reminder: I don’t share this to say stir up malice toward Rick Warren but to say “this sort of malicious…

Jesus’ death on the cross is proof that God loves you even in the midst of your sin.
It’s also proof that God is serious about punishing sin.
It’s also proof that God calls you, by His grace, to repent and trust in Jesus for complete forgiveness and eternal hope.
I am not very familiar with Doug's ministry. He may very well have a genuine prophetic gift, but this is bad, unbiblical teaching and it should be SET ASIDE.

I don’t know what happened in this case, but as a general rule, we should not rush out and make any decisions based on information that comes from “the father of lies”. Rather, we must set emotions aside and with sound mind, speak to our father in Heaven.

We need people in the charismatic community to develop a stronger backbone and stand up against unbiblical teaching and practice, while at the same time guarding our own hearts that we may not become religiously proud.
The world looks at our faith as legalistic, binding, and restrictive. The truth is that life in the Spirit is gloriously liberating and fulfilling. Saying no to the flesh is the way of freedom; doing whatever your carnal nature wants to do is the way of bondage and destruction.
For so many years, all too many preachers have been afraid to tackle controversial issues, not wanting to rock the boat. As a result, the boat is now sinking.
If you feel like it's your role as a believer to stop the spiritual & moral decline of society, you'll quickly become discouraged & worn out. But if you concentrate on advancing God's kingdom purposes by positively impacting one life at a time, you'll be encouraged & renewed.
If you want to be a real patriot and bring great blessing to America, then put the cross before the flag. If you want to bring spiritual and moral confusion to our country, then wrap the gospel in the American flag.
