What does a good listener have that a bad listener doesn't? It's very rare to find a person who can listen attentively and provide a response that has nothing to do with their body's emotional reaction Self awareness is what a bad listener lacks.

When we take things personally and react to situations, we are attached to our opinions, and have made them our identity. When we take someone's opinion personally, it feels like they have attacked our identity so we react, coz our identity is tied to strong emotions.
