This looks crazy, but it might surprise you to know that there are actually more shrines (80,000) and temples (77,000) in Japan than there are convenience stores (“only” 56,000!)

There’s the 88 temple pilgrimage in Shikoku. And there’s the 10,000 Conbini crawl in Tokyo. Which is more sacred?

I’d been curious about this book for so long! I somehow expected it to be more complex language-wise, but for now it is easy to follow. What other books by Higashino Keigo would you recommend? @japanesebook @DokushoClub

@cip10001 @life4rdm @conbiniboys It says bacon there on the label, what more do you need? I’m not being argumentative- I’m not a bacon purist and I’m not American, so I have no idea.

Hi. I’m still alive but now I am pretty much all active at famichiki.jp - a great mstdn instance. You can find full details in my tweet handle.

@AmelieinTokyo check customs regs - Japan is very strict on processed meat, but in 2004 I brought over a kilogram of cheese and didn't even have to declare it.

@acelee I have a glossary file with the J dot and the corresponding dot I want to use. My glossary window sorts by J length, so I have to scroll right to the end but maybe that beats googling?

Wife trying to fill in Fuk city web form (looks like built in '93). Rejecting input cos macOS won't enter the correct "ー" - only way to get the right one is to cut & paste from error message. She's losing it. Finally gets it to work then tells her site doesn't work after 5pm 😂

@arcanelibrary personal experience, but I'm finding it hard recently to listen to 90s/early 2000s music - so maybe another 10 years?

@tatamilife I did my last test in 2008 - at the time I came across photocopies of past tests on some site 🧐 sorry I can't be much more helpful than that
