@Rainmaker1973 This looks very much like it's in Australia, and while we disagree about what to call the part where people walk, I think we at least agree that he's cleaning up the gutter. What we call the grassy bit is a whole other thing though!

RIP Vernor Vinge. From narcs, doxxing, poisoned AI models, onion routing, VSAT hacking, metaverse, XKeyscore, data lakes, djb ciphers vs NIST ;-) he foretold our future in 1981’s True Names: ia801004.us.archive.org/0/items/truena… (pdf)

@rokwon Hackers and graffiti writers typically protect their True Names (ala Vernor Vinge), but on moving to college in ‘93, full of hubris, I let everybody know. Or at least the Koreans 😊

@y011 All mine are long gone. I feel like I should have kept a Netra or something though.

@RenInOz Words I did not expect to read today! But I think it's highly likely we are in a simulation, yes.

@dragosr I’m pretty sure I do, but it’s a long way from you! I definitely have 80 track drives for TRS-80 Model 1. :)

@fukawi2 Same here, and agreed! It’s surprising what isn’t on IPv6 at this point.

After self-hosting my email for twenty-three years I have thrown in the towel 😩 Email is now an oligopoly, a service gatekept by a few big companies which does not follow the principles of net neutrality.

A reminder there's still 210+ refugees being detained in PNG & Nauru. Men who've now entered their 10th year of despair & detention. We again call on the Albanese Government to evacuate the men to Australia until they can be safely resettled. Act now👉action.asrc.org.au/evacuate-png-n…
