TIL: ever since PHP 8, there is a syntactic sugar for common `if` + `throw` expressions in code. Especially handy if you have multiple checks one after the other, and a decent alternative to Assertion libraries for input validation.

My overengineering red flags: 🚩 Microservices 🚩 DDD-like structures and patterns 🚩 Standalone Git repositories for internal libs 🚩 Makefile (if not using C/C++) 🚩 Non-mainstream languages All of these have perfectly valid use cases... but they are too often misused.

Little bits of implementation such as: if (descr[0] !== ' ') ... are often misinterpreted & overlooked, yet may embody a key business rule. Write microtests to help capture those rules. And extract your conditionals to intention-revealing functions.
