In the article from vanderbilt.edu, they say that getting to know your students is important for motivating them! I have seen this in my placements. I have observed my MT learn new things about a student and then bring that same topic up again a few days later!
Something I learned from the article "Sometimes Misbehavior Is Not What It Seems," is that sometimes students see their teachers as parental figures. This happened to me once, a student kept asking if they could call me mom. It was not appropriate, but still very sweet!
Is anyone else freaking out because DPI isn’t allowing us to attend our placements for the rest of the semester???? What is going to happen!!! #EDU300
I have my observation scheduled for a week from today. I emailed my supervisor to see if it can get pushed back because I've been sick and haven't been able to prepare anything with my mentor teacher yet. Hopefully everything works out! #EDU300 How I currently feel:
Was at my placement today and a student straight up called me Miss. Yoda because he genuinely thought that was my last name. I had to turn away so he wouldn’t see me laughing. #EDU300
First day meeting my students: Student #1: “My name’s Jeff!” Me: “That’s a good name! I’ll remember because that’s my dad’s name.” Student #2: “His name’s not Jeff...” I’m still gonna call him Jeff. #EDU300
Fun fact: I have a friend who plans to run for President of the United States. #EDU300
