Think viable vision for Hawks going forward is to try and build on what they have in Jalen Johnson as a dynamic 4 by adding more size and passing in the front court. Clingan top on my board for guys they might have a shot at, Buzelis makes sense too.

I think fit issues alongside Trae poison the well a bit in terms of appreciation for Dejounte. There aren’t that many guys who can scale up to true floor raising lead guard. He can drag an underpowered cast to success. Without Trae he’s basically doing what he did in SA.

The effect of more pro sports owners having a private equity background is it tips their hand on their plans for their teams. The goal of private equity is to emphasize profitability with an eye towards eventual sale of the asset at a much higher price. Owner background matters.

The other part of this is Bogdan Bogdanovic just makes everyone better. Hawks have a -7.7 net rating with him off the floor. +2.6 with him on. Everyone loves playing with him.

It sounds funny to say about the #2 overall pick but Brandon Miller just got overthought. If you look at high major freshmen to average 12 BPM that list is mostly NBA stars. Size, shooting, actually cares about defense. Charlotte appears to have made the right pick.

The defensive flashes Kobe Bufkin showed last night were pretty high level. The lateral agility I thought in particular stood out. Hawks desperately in need of guard defenders.
