@KarlVaters Shawn seems to be pushing us towards big picture ministry and not being too concerned about individual soul care. I think I'm more with Baxter, even if it means having churches under 200. I think of Acts 20:28; Hebrews 13:17; Ezekiel 34, 1 Thess 5:12-13
"Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future" Proverbs 19:20 Such a good word for all of us! And so much more for the young people that Proverbs was written to. Give serious weight to the words of godly parents, pastors, teachers, employers!
"There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing" Prov 12:18, ESV There is a place and need for strong words, but our default disposition should be to use thoughtful, gentle, kind, edifying words. On and off Twitter.
@TomHicks2LCF Seems sanctification is both instantaneous and progressive. Heb 11- we have been made perfect, 1 cor 6-we have been sanctified (past tense), we are already saints (holy ones). We are instantly made holy (set apart) at conversion. But we spend a lifetime growing in holiness.

@HippyMomPhD Yes! Careers that can scale and be as part time as wanted are great for aspiring moms. Nurses, dental assistants/hygienists are a few that come to mind.
@HippyMomPhD Its nice to find physical activities that can be done with the multiple family members. For us that's been shooting sports, all ages soccer, mens/teens basketball, rec soccer. And...hunting, fishing, hiking, etc. Thats been better for us than uber competitive team sports.

@PLeithart I agree! I remember being taught in Bible college that only the inspired authors could do that sort of thing. But that never felt quite right.
Psalm 34:19, 21: "Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all....Affliction will slay the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be condemned." The righteous & wicked go through tough stuff, but God helps the righteous through it.
"See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone." 1 Thessalonians 5:15 There's a place for strong words and actions, but our disposition on Twitter and everywhere should be that of always seeking to do good to others!
@NeilShenvi Proverbs 30:17 colorfully gives the flip side of that truth. It's a verse worth having kids memorize. I share it often at camps, retreats and youth group.
