If a minority of Republicans in Congress really block aid to Ukraine, the US is at risk of seeming not just like an unreliable ally, but an unserious ally. A silly ally. theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/…
A series of different, bad choices led to this moment, none of which make any sense to foreigners (and I have tried to explain to many). It looks to them like the American political system has been hijacked by a radical, pro-Russian faction, led a disgraced ex-president.

If you are angered by this, as some here seem to be...please write to your Senator and your member of Congress, and let them know

@anneapplebaum Why would cessation of a proxy war which endangers us all anger anyone? Ukraine should never have been led down a primrose path of promised support, esp during an era when so many Americans can’t even afford basic necessities
@anneapplebaum Trump is almost certain to become the rep nominee, yet it’s far from certain that he’ll win the general election. Not to discount the array of 91 indictments to battle in court prior to November.
@anneapplebaum Fortunately, or unfortunately, both my senators and my representative are Democrats. We can count on them. If the old GOP Senator Pat Toomey was still around it would have been hopeless. I wrote and called him over a hundred times and never got any satisfaction. Good riddance!
@anneapplebaum Called @RepNewhouse yesterday. Pissed off about @HouseGOP leadership
@anneapplebaum I’m furious. Please get your republican colleagues to rush aid @ChrisMurphyCT @SenBlumenthal 🙏
@anneapplebaum So you are an activist, not a journalist. Sad.
@anneapplebaum I care, but as long as Europe refuses to build a military, USA can't fight all these wars alone. Same issue applies to Taiwan. At least Israel makes major investments in equipment and training.
