One reason Democrats should go on Fox is to show our comparative economic competence. The host says that France spends 57% of its GDP/budget on education. That's ludicrous. It spends 4% of GDP and 10% of its budget. Perhaps, the Fox host meant France spends 57% of GDP on public expenditure. The US is around 40 percent. But that differential is largely b/c France provides healthcare. In the US, workers have to pay a mandatory privatized tax for healthcare that is hugely regressive. US healthcare expenditure is at 18% of GDP that dwarfs France's at about 11%. Americans would get a much better bargain if we had Medicare for All. The problem is we have been cutting taxes for billionaires and misallocating our health spending to benefit private interests. Taxing billionaires and investing in the education and healthcare of our people would lead to dignity for all and supercharge economic growth in an era that values human capital most.

Just to be clear about what happened here: - Trump cut a deal with Putin that will route ~$4B of American dollars to Russia. That money will be used to fund the war. - Trump announced an "energy ceasefire" that was probably Putin's idea, surprised the Ukrainians, is structured to benefit Russia, and was immediately broken by the Russian military. - When Zelensky spoke candidly about these terrible deals, the US cut off Starlink access in ways that made it harder for Ukraine to intercept Russian drones, and seemingly withheld intel about ballistic missile attacks. - Last week alone, Russia killed more than 150 civilians in Ukraine, including 33 in one strike on a bus stop. Trump is de facto asking @ZelenskyyUa to surrender. Zelensky can throw on a suit, he can endure lectures from whiny little bitches like @JDVance, but he can't lay down and die just because Trump wants the Nobel Peace Prize.
