So @ChicagoWaddup , my amazing team member at vcinfodocs, did this interview with The Insight, focused on political developments in Africa.
They talk about mining, healthcare, drones and weapons in Nigeria, and the role of venture capital.

@ObservatoireUS@PhilNvestigates I enjoy reading liberal literature, so The Nerd Reich caught my eye. I ended up reading Shanley Kane’s earlier work on tech fascism and TESCREAL, and the overlap is striking. Have you read her work? I’d love for more people to know where the intellectual groundwork came from.
@shanley really glad i found your work. making the money and power behind militarised tech visible is so important, and your research deserves more attention.
i've been sitting with this all day to adequately formulate my thoughts. yes, shanley should be credited for her contributions/analysis/work & ALSO, this is a crucial fight & we need serious analysis & people who can't cite properly &/or steal ideas aren't capable of providing it
This August, "Nerd Reich" was published by Avid Reader Press, capitalizing on dissent to tech fascism.
It became a bestseller. But it took the work of activists without credit or citation. And buried the real story.
Receipts. Evidence. Timestamps.

@dw2 I recently came across Shanley Kane’s work while reading up on this, and it was so interesting to see how much she’d already explored years ago! I really wish her work got more recognition because I think it deserves to be part of this conversation too.
Shanley Kane was writing about tech fascism years before The Nerd Reich. So why is her work missing from the conversation around the book?
Who gets cited, whose ideas reach mainstream audiences, and whose work gets left out? Give credit where it’s due.

Gil Duran discovered Silicon Valley fascism the way Columbus discovered America: someone else had already been there. Shanley Kane did the groundwork; The Nerd Reich just made the destination more marketable.
