My advice to young college kids aspiring to work at non-profits: Don't. Go work for a soulless corporation that pays you in real money and has a decent work life balance and volunteer with a mutual aid org on your own time. These non profits are good person soul sucking vampires.

The last time the federal minimum wage was increased was 13 years ago today. It's now worth 27% less than it was on July 25, 2009. There is no state in the country where a full-time, minimum wage worker can afford a one-bedroom apartment.

Omicron BA.5 is really, really bad. There will be no public policy shift to deal with it. We are left on our own to do individual "risk assessment" during a pandemic with an evolving virus that can evade previous immunity and cause long-term disease. This is hell.

Whenever I make observations about how men behave towards one another, cis guys will comment or DM me to explain how x behaviour is a way to mitigate or manage aggression between men, and I don't think that I really grasped pre-transition how unsafe men make *each other* feel.

Today’s a big day in Puerto Rico because public workers are holding a “national strike.” Across the island there will be multiple protests scattered throughout the day and at different locations organized by different labour/activist groups all demanding fair pay for their work.

I think a lot of people have never heard of the link between infectious illness and chronic conditions like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, autoimmune illnesses, etc. It's real and has been known for a long time in health care. Everyone needs to know and understand this now.
