@jrlsilverman They're small but somewhat poorly produced (colors not super clear) and really fiddly to keep together on the table. Sounds terrible but in the right mood it's a good challenge. I actually found a second one that I never opened that has all its pieces - working it now.
@jrlsilverman It had lost a few pieces in the first attempt a couple of years ago, and was maddening but reasonably quick.
@jrlsilverman Sympathies on the stress/anxiety/impostor syndrome. I can relate. You = not impostor though. And my puzzle table (really end of extended dining table) has been going recently. I just resurrected one of those really cheap wooden ones that haunted my feed in early pandemic!
@SimonGKrakauer Our 10 year old still needs some work in this department!
@j_rubinette @jrlsilverman @PoMoMagazine I'm of similar age and viewing habits. My 13 year old watches (too much) YouTube, which has ads, and he was mentioning that he's been seeing political ads. Which means he's seen more than I have!
@scottshuchart I gave one to my husband for his birthday and he used it to investigate our fancy coffee maker's flaky grinder! The q-tips still have their place in the bathroom apparently, but as a generic tool he loves it.
@jrlsilverman Neither of my kids has been personally isolated or quarantined, but the Beaverton school dashboard (which claims to be up to date for 2 days prior) does show plenty of both across schools. beaverton.k12.or.us/departments/pu…
@jrlsilverman Are those pints or quarts of milk? My kids (BSD) usually come back with seriously 12 little one-cup cartons. maybe 2 chocolate and 8 white. Ok, maybe only 6 white but it is overwhelming and they expire quickly.
@scottshuchart Oh we did that one years ago - though maybe with the zany Treasure Island refresher the boys will be willing to watch again (family movie night is not a democracy, but it is better with grudging agreement). Just that Andy and I hadn't seen T.I. - saw plenty else in 1996 though.
@scottshuchart (and somehow I remembered you tweeted about family movie night - we do the same)
@scottshuchart We just watched Muppet Treasure Island because the 12 year old somehow had his GoogleMini playing the theme song and got it stuck in all of our heads. The goofy 9 year old loved it and the adults were rather amused. Though we had to keep explaining who all the muppets were...
@jrlsilverman @BeavertonSD Found BEA bargaining summary video here (2/25). Maybe less optimistic but not unoptimistic now since they mention progress being made. beavertonea.org/bargaining/
@jrlsilverman @BeavertonSD This is true. And I don't think the BEA bargaining sessions are public the way PAT is. Maybe my optimism is unfounded 😥
@jrlsilverman Seems likely. Will they re-survey for actual #s for classroom assignments? Was your survey binding? Nothing easy about this process but at least I feel pretty confident my kids will be heading back in hybrid in April. Might feel less confident if we hadn't had binding surveys yet
@jrlsilverman More likely it was relatively low due to the 4 half-days schedule? MS/HS survey is for 2 full days - we'll see how that come out. Due 3/15
@jrlsilverman Actually they said that no one - choosing hybrid or cdl - was guaranteed same teacher. If 66% chose hybrid & there were 3 classes, two teachers would do hybrid and 1 cdl. Where numbers didn't work out I think CDL kids would have had to move to a teacher not in their home school.
@jrlsilverman Sorry if this tweet-chain-thingy is formatted wrong - this may be my 4th ever tweet and I literally was surprised at the character cap 😆
@jrlsilverman Plan before the 50/50 came in was separate classes for hybrid and CDL, which would have meant potentially switching teachers.
