BYU lost twice to the #4 team in the country. Texas Tech is a GREAT team. BYU should still be in the College Football Playoff at 11-2 with the 2 best losses of any team in the country. 11 win teams shouldn’t be punished for the result of the Conference Championship game. Period.

Culturally, we should put pressure on men over the age of 30 to grow up and become husbands and fathers. Because if we don’t, they’ll drift into addiction, isolation, or perpetual adolescence. Men who won’t lead a family will always follow their vices.

I didn’t grow up in the church, I converted in 2014. I went inactive for years and went as far as removing church records in 2025. Thanks to repentance through the atonement of Jesus Christ, I was rebaptized last year… and guess what happened today….. Just finished being endowed and sealed as a family. I leave knowing my redeemer lives. He lives! Today, all glory to our savior and head of His church Jesus Christ— Carol and I were endowed and then sealed together in the temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. If God can change me, he can change you. Trust Christ, repent, and take up your cross and follow Him. I was an unbeliever for many years and inactive in the church. I was rebaptized last year, April 2014, so this is huge proof that if God can change a hard heated man like me into someone that is worthy to enter His holy temple… then imagine how much he could do for you. Carol and I were already married in 2014, but it was a civil wedding in a church chapel. “Til death do you part.” But marriage is at the very heart of the gospel and it’s not meant to just end at death. Your family can last forever even in the heavens through ordinances in the Lord’s holy temples. For those who aren’t familiar: •The endowment is a sacred ceremony where we make covenants with God and learn more deeply about His plan for us. It’s a time to draw closer to Him and to gain spiritual strength and understanding. •Sealing is a beautiful ordinance that unites families not just for this life, but for eternity. When you’re married in a regular church chapel, it always ends with “til death do you part.” In the temple, marriages are performed by priesthood authority “for time and all eternity,” rather than “till death do you part.” What is sealed on earth through proper priesthood authority, is sealed in Heaven. We believe that through these temple covenants and ordinances, our relationships — husband, wife, and children — can continue beyond this mortal life. Knowing that our family bond can last forever brings us a deep sense of peace, joy, and purpose. My first sight-giving, life-giving encounter with real evidence of truth did not come with anointing clay or the Pool of Siloam. No, the instrument of truth that brought my healing from the Lord came as pages in a book—yes, the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ! The claims of this book have been attacked and dismissed by some unbelievers, their anger often matching the vitriol of those who told the healed man he could not possibly have experienced what he knew he had experienced. The impact in my life of the Book of Mormon is no less miraculous than was the application of spit and dirt on the blind man’s eyes. I came to my whole-souled conviction that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a true restoration of the New Testament church and more because I cannot deny the evidence of that restoration. Since those first experiences, I suppose I have had a thousand—ten thousand?—other evidences that what I have spoken of today is true. #GeneralConference #HearHim

All the things that make Mormonism “heretical” are what make it a viable alternative to mainstream Christianity. Pre-mortal life makes free will possible. God’s perfect obedience to eternal law resolves the problem of evil. Work for the dead makes man accountable for what he knows, not punishable for his ignorance. God’s origin as a man, and man’s destiny as a God, makes our present condition worthwhile, the sacrifice of Christ infinite, and the worth of souls eternal. Degrees of glory mean good people who reject Christ are not treated the same as murderers and rapists. Dogmatic Christians clutch their pearls. But honest atheists, agnostics and people of undetermined faith look at it and go, “Huh… that actually could be…”

I’m not going to insist on being called a Christian. Do I consider myself to be a Christian? Yes. Absolutely and unequivocally yes. But, I understand that my rejection of formal Trinitarian dogma is a nonstarter for many. That’s ok. Everyone has a right to make such determinations. This post (which will probably end up being quite long) is not a plea to be recognized as Christian, but rather an explanation of what I as a Latter-day Saint do believe about Jesus Christ. Jesus is Jehovah. He is the God of the Old Testament and the Redeemer of the New. It was He who covenanted with Abraham, and He is indeed the very God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He spoke to Moses through the burning bush and gave him the Ten Commandments. He led the children of Israel through the Red Sea on dry ground. He is the creator of the heavens and the earth and all things that in them are. He descended to earth in the meridian of time, was born of the Virgin Mary in a manger, and at the age of thirty began His public ministry. He called apostles, ordained them to the priesthood, and taught the truths of eternity to all who would listen. He established His church, healed the sick, raised the dead, restored sight to the blind, instituted the sacrament of the Lord’s supper and, when the time had come, endured the unbearable weight and agony of all our sins, pains, and weaknesses in the Garden of Gethsemane, a burden so heavy that even He, God, the greatest of all, trembled because of pain and bled from every pore. He was betrayed with a kiss, mocked, and put through a sham trial at the behest of a mob. He was denied, and made to endure it alone. He was beaten, whipped, and scorned, made to carry a cross to calvary’s hill. Large nails were driven into His hands, wrists, and feet, and a crown of thorns was placed on His head. He gave commands to His disciples before He ascended to heaven, exhorting them to preach the gospel to every creature, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. He initiated the restoration of His church through Joseph Smith, Jr., appearing first to the boy prophet in 1820, and later revealing The Book of Mormon, a sacred record of scripture that, with the Bible, testifies plainly that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior. In the time since, He has led and guided this The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jesus is an high priest of good things to come, the Great King Immanuel who sits on the right hand of His Father, crowned forever with eternal glory and all power, might, and dominion, having finished His preparations unto the children of men and offering them redemption through the shedding of His own blood. He is the light and the life of the world, and salvation comes in and through His atoning blood and in no other way. He is my prophet, my priest, my king and my God. That is who Jesus of Nazareth is to me.
