This is incredible. 80,000 young French Catholics sing the Salve Regina in Latin with Pope Leo XIV at a Prayer Vigil in the Stade de France.

This community transformer racket has to stop completely. It is daylight robbery disguised as community self-help, and the regulatory double standard is sickening. Look at how the power sector works in Nigeria: When a community transformer blows up, the DisCo goes deaf. You write letters, make calls, and nothing happens. Six months down the line, residents are suffocating in darkness, small businesses are dying, and fuel prices are draining everybody's pockets. Out of sheer desperation, landlords gather, task every household 50k, 100k, or more, and scrape together 5 to 8 million Naira to buy a brand new transformer, buy heavy copper cables, and pay for poles. The moment that equipment is energized, the DisCo claims it as company property. They add it to their network balance sheet, and within two weeks, they start distributing Band A and Band B bills. If you do not pay, they disconnect you with the ladder leaning on the very pole you bought with your own sweat. How can a private, for-profit utility company take free capital equipment from struggling citizens, pay zero interest, give zero equity, and then charge those same citizens full price to use it? If NERC mandated that customers who pay upfront for meters under the MAP scheme must be refunded their money over time through energy credits, why does the exact same logic not apply to transformers? A meter costs 100k to 150k and you refund it via monthly energy units. A transformer costs 6 to 10 million Naira funded by an entire street, and you pretend it was a charitable donation to a private entity? This injustice has to end. If a community is forced to step in and buy infrastructure because a DisCo failed its obligations, NERC should make automatic amortization mandatory: Every single household on that street that contributed to buying that transformer should have their meter credited with monthly energy units until the full cost of the asset, cables, and installation logistics is completely paid back. You cannot let private DisCos enrich their asset portfolios with crowd-funded community blood and then charge those same people premium tariffs for power. If DisCos want to own the asset, they must refund the people who paid for it.

Possibly the most important 10 mins video you'll watch, this weekend. "E get backing wey you go get from house, e go sweet to pursue your dreams because if your dreams later pursue you, food dey house" - SALAKO, 2025.

I knew a guy that taught lesson to secondary school kids years ago, especially students preparing for waec and JAMB. He was good. Testimonies from his students confirmed how good he was. Even the parents of his students confirmed it.

This is a final year student project at Eindhoven University of Technology I saw today. This is a 100% solar powered car that works! From my further inquiry, I learnt that final year students projects are done in groups of 5. So it’s highly collaborative. In coming months, when you will start seeing this type of cars everywhere, just know that it was invented by students in a university. Universities are the heart of every society. Their innovations move the society forward. Everyone comes with intentions to contribute positively. Nigerian students are busy chasing GPA because that’s what our society exposes them do. Visionless education. We need to give Nigerian students the right environment and support to become the best of who they truly are.

We interviewed a guy at New Nigeria Bank in Lagos in 1999. His CV only had his London address. We asked if he could always be reached at that address, and he said they had owned the property since 1940. The bank hired him. He eventually rejected the offer. Rich people privilege

Crossing the highway/express where there’s a pedestrian Bridge is a punishable offence. What does the law say?

From selling drinks inside Agege Statium for her Mum to officiating in a CAF tournament. This is the story we all love 🔥

See the video that got people talking

The year 1969 is one the people of Ogbomoso will never forget. More than half a century later, elders still shudder whenever they remember the incident. For those who were not born at the time or who were too young to know what happened, the story has been told over and over again till today and it has become almost a folklore. It is doubtful if there is anyone of Ogbomoso descent who has not heard of the story. After all, bí ọmọdé kò ba ba ìtàn, yóò ba àrọ́bá, àrọ́bá sì ni bàbá ìtàn. (if a child did not meet an event, the child will certainly grow up to meet its narration, and narration is the parent of an event.) The story you are reading now is therefore the parent of that fateful event of 1969.

The CBN has reportedly directed all banks to impose a “0.5% cybersecurity levy” on all bank transactions. The money raised is to be sent to the office of the National Security Adviser. A circular from the apex bank on Monday disclosed that the implementation of the levy would start two weeks from today. The circular was directed to all commercial, merchant, non-interest and payment service banks, among others. Does anyone know why this is?

With the Japa wave, a lot of Nigerians are coming to this side of the world. As a doctor, I see quite a number weekly from delivery room to neonatal unit. You can visibly see the confusion/anxiety in their faces when oyinbo try to explain things to them.

Listen to the Malawian President and cry for yourself!!!!! "I am effectively ending the practice of draining the public coffers to spend on allowances or useless activities." — Malawian President, as he cuts costs of governance. This is AFRICA!!!! This is MALAWI!!!! The man SLASHED EVERY FREAKING THING!!! but Tinubu is busy buying cars and yacht!!! It will NEVER be well with all those people that voted for this EVIL!!!

It is not too late to work on your social skills. Don’t just rush into a stranger’s DM only when you need financial assistance or dump all your problems on people without even checking if they are in the mood for it. You can observe what they like and strike up a conversation based on that. If they are football lovers and you understand football, start with that. If you are a music lover and you hear them talk about music, go with that! This model works for children a lot. They always find things in common with other kids so easily and that’s why they make lots of friends in a short period. Don’t stare at people you admire creepily in public, approach them and say hello! Everyone almost responds to hello, as long as there’s no “Can you do me a favor?” at the end of it. If they are holding a book and you’ve read a book from a similar author, casually make it known. Learn to compliment people. That’s the quickest ice breaker that opens room for an easy discussion with a stranger. I can walk past a colleague and pass a compliment in 15 seconds. “That’s a nice haircut/hair!” Or “I love your scarf, so cute…” If you were waiting for a bus, you could continue the conversation like, “My sister has a scarf just like that (even if they don’t)” or “I used to cut my hair short at a barking salon nearby. Do you live locally?” Or “are you from around here?” (Instead of where do you live)? It sounds creepy! Your choice of words matters. If there’s no time for a conversation, you can keep it moving. If your eyes meet a stranger, instead of looking away awkwardly, you can smile and nod gently then look away. That’s also a greeting from afar. I never lack what to say to a stranger and I always leave them smiling. If you join me in an elevator and ask me if I’m going up or down, with a smile, I’ll probably say something like, “Wouldn’t it be nice if we are all going up for life?” 99% of the time they would laugh. PS: you don’t have to use these examples because it might be unnatural for you. These scenarios might not play out that way but at least you know that there are lots of things you can say to someone to strike a conversation. Just observe your environment and find a way to be an adult.
