@Champ_Ratings There's a reason the media post about Geelong more than any other club come trade season, and it's not because of Geelong fans.

@FOXFOOTY @Ben_Cotton15 Imagine the tears from you lot if Geelong were attempting this. Relax, your club forked out overs and got the player. Just be happy about finally landing a big fish and stop complaining about every single post re: Butters' trade. You'll get him. Go touch grass.

@wbulldogsnews9 These are written only for a certain section of fans for pure ragebait, and it always works.

@scubalator @traderadio Mackie explained it yesterday. He chose Geelong, Dogs upped their offer again in desperation, Geelong refused to budge on the agreed deal and here we are. I'm glad the club stayed firm and didn't buckle out of fear of FOMO. We move on.

@Duckimusprime @lukeR15sky The question is; would Bulldogs have entertained any secondary deals involving Marshall this year, had Butters not nominated them? Of course not. That's why. With the money they're paying Butters, you'd hope Dogs' picks are worse than Cats by end of next year.

@JordanMars44993 @Mehyouthink @traderadio There's articles on foxsports and sen, Edmund reported it this morning on Trade Radio. Geelong's deal was better than the dogs but Port weren't interested. Possibly helps win a flag, but he isn't a $2 million difference maker imo. Happy to be proven wrong

@JordanMars44993 @Mehyouthink @traderadio I'm honestly not even bothered. I was terrified of that deal. It's the equivalent of us paying Dangerfield $2 million for the last few years. Crazy.

@JordanMars44993 @Mehyouthink @traderadio Many sites reporting it. It's easy to just say they'd reneg it, but Port didn't even engage for that to happen. This comes across (to me) as damage control from Port to convince fans it was the right decision to take the lesser deal because "it's Geelong".

@AbdullahHepC Port refused to even engage with Geelong. Dogs' offer won't come close to Geelong's, but hey ho. Bridesmaids Dogs reap the rewards of Port's immaturity. Good luck to them

@jsin_59 @lukeR15sky Geelong offered Polkinghorne, Close and 3 x first rounders. Port decided before talks could even start. Butters had to settle for Dogs.

@JordanMars44993 @Mehyouthink @traderadio Geelong were still in the finals and it would be unprofessional to publicly offer up players who had still yet to finish their season.

@JordanMars44993 @Mehyouthink @traderadio Reported by Edmunds (who has favoured Dogs in this trade) after speaking with Port officials. Geelong's offer was 3 x first rounders and 2 x starting 22 (Polk and Close). Geelong came to the table and Port never arrived.

@MastroianniRob @kalebelmo Incorrect. Geelong wanted to start discussions and Port refused. This is all on Port.

@MastroianniRob @kalebelmo 90% of dogs supporters are claiming he was always choosing them. Facts are, they were the second option and got him by default. Not sure how Geelong could've made an offer if Port refused to start discussions with them in the first place. Not Geelong's fault, oh well. Move on.

@MastroianniRob @kalebelmo As I assumed, he chose Geelong and Port were worried they'd get short-changed, which we now know they weren't going to. If anything, they will now with Dogs compared to what Geelong were prepared to give up. "If he was unrestricted, he'd already have the hoops in his wardrobe."

@Duckimusprime @lukeR15sky Are they dogs offering three firsts? Or is that dependant on the dodgy compo?

@MastroianniRob @kalebelmo Hmm I reckon there's some truth to the Port would rather deal with Dogs. It was a win-win for Butters. Preferred Geelong for success/lifestyle, but Dogs also worked as a backup due to his childhood club/$$$. Geelong's offer was pitched to Port before the nomination. Ah well

@MastroianniRob @kalebelmo To me, Butters and Port worked in tandem. It seems they wanted him to be happy, so his choices came down to Geelong and Dogs in that order, and Port preferred Dogs as they thought they'd still get a similar deal with the dodgy compo. Not that hard to believe, but it's all a guess
