@ControlNole It would make sense to move it to Friday but then ABC would have to backfill the 12PM slot on Saturday. They would likely lose viewers with the switch, which is why the game wasn’t moved.

@CFBNerds Likewise, I think many of UF’s passing yards are fool’s gold since Utah went to a bend-don’t-break defense in the 3Q. 25 of 31 completions and 220 of 333 yards in the 2H. They still somehow managed to go 1-13 of 3rd down conversions.

NC State @ UConn: -NC State offense revolves around Armstrong. Rushed for team high 19 for 96 yds and 2TD (Team rush 46 for 209 and 3TD). 17-26 155yds, 0/0, 65%. -Armstrong strikes me as a selfish player. He would rather run for 7 yards then pass for 10. -UConn defense played fairly well. 7 TFL. -UConn QB looks fine and should put up better numbers against non-top 25 defenses. UConn has 7-8 winnable games this year. Rosa best RB with sprinter speed. -NC State should be 10 point underdogs next week @ ND. NC State’s secondary picked off Hartman 3 times last season. Hartman has a tendency to loft passes, which are picked by faster DBs.

NEB @ MIN: -The Big10 West division features some of the worst offenses in the country: Iowa/NEB/MIN/ILL/Northwestern/Purdue/Wisconsin. Many of these division matchups could end up being under 40 points/game. -NEB QB Sims: A great athlete with an awkward throwing motion. NEB needs to use him situationally. Stares down receivers. If play breaks down, looking at the next target leads to a turnover worthy pass. He needs one read and then run. 11-19 114 yds, 1TD, 3INT, 57.5%. -MIN QB Kaliakmanis: Overall, not very accurate. 24-44 196 yds, 1TD, 1INT, 54.5%. -NEB QB was leading rusher with 91 of 181 team rush yards. MIN had 16 rush yards in the 2H.

UF @ Utah notes: -UF media is attempting to sell the fan base on Billy Napier’s recruiting class and urging patience. If UF is 2-3 at the end of September, then it will be difficult to hold the recruits and enthusiasm from the fans. -UF would owe $31.9M to Napier if fired after the 2023 season, $16M would be due in 30 days. If they fired him after the 2024 season, they owe $26M. -Can UF create some sort of scandal (hazing) or conduct violations (improper recruiting) that would allow them to fire Napier without the large buyout? -Big disappoint from UF’s O-line. The run game was supposed to be the strength of the offense and they rushed 13 times for 21 yards - 0.6 y/a! They also allowed 5 sacks and numerous pressures. -Mertz’s stats look fine (31-44 333yds, 1TD, 1INT, 70%) but Utah went into a prevent defense after they were up 24-3 in the 3rd Q. Most of the completions were <10 yards or screens. -Pearsall is still the best player on the offense. I don’t know why UF abandoned the run game so soon. -UF defense looked big but did not seem quick. LB Mitchell is too slow to play in any situation but obvious short yard runs. -Utah was without QB and TE (best playmaker on offense). Had well designed plays for 3rd QB Robinson. Utah will likely keep Rising out until conference play (Sep 23 vs UCLA). -Utah should be favored by 5-7 points next week @ Baylor.

Nebraska (+7) @ Minnesota Aug. 31 -Nebraska’s record last year is not indicative of the talent on the roster. They were 2-12 in games decided by 7 points or less. They suffered from poor decision making and sloppy special teams. -Nebraska has the better coach, QB (Sims), and roster. -Minnesota should have one of the better defenses in the conference but I trust Rhule will be able to move the ball with the athleticism of Sims. -I don’t expect a great Nebraska defense but it should be enough to slow down Minnesota’s offense.

Total play for Week 1: USF @ WKU (3:30 ET) under 70 -WKU has a high scoring offense but last year only 1 game exceeded 70 points (FIU 73-0). The average total was <60 in 2022. -The sentiment on USF is that they are terrible as last year they went 1-11 (won 4 games total since 2020). The previous coach was on the hot seat before the season and it was known that he would be fired at the end of the season. This led to poor effort on the part of USF. Defense gave up 43 pts/gm last year. -New coach Golesh was OC at Tennessee the past 2 seasons. Expect an improved offense. The defense returns 9 and should put forth a better effort for the new coaching staff. The talent on the team is definitely better than the performance the past couple of seasons. #wku #usf #cfb

@KFordRatings Appreciate the ratings. However I think you might need to adjust some teams faster. 1. UMass is better than FIU and NMSU. UMass winning yesterday was not a fluke. 2. Hawaii is better than UTEP and LaTech. Both UMass and Hawaii have much better QBs this year vs last year.

Hawaii looks much improved this year and Stanford had an exodus of talent this year. Lost 21 players in the portal, most of which went to other P5 schools.

@Ianniello21 He's a terrible game manager. Recruiting is difficult at UTEP but there was no reason to lose that game. Who's the best coach he's beaten? He seems to get outcoached quite a bit.

Left game towards end of 1Q. -Ohio QB Harris: 18 of 42, 203 yds, 1TD, 3INT -SDSU QB (Mayden) is a big and difficult to sack -SDSU outgained by Ohio 380 to 309, FDs 25 to 15 -If I'm the coach at Ohio, I would keep Rourke out until conference play. -Ohio defense played well. If Rourke doesn't leave, very well could have won game.

FIU @ LaTech: -LaTech outgained FIU 450 to 197 -2H yds: 177 to 3 (FIU 1 first down in 2H) -LaTech defense looked improved in the 2H -FDs 28 to 8 in favor of LaTech -Time of possession almost 2:1 in favor of LaTech -LaTech ran 83 plays vs 44 for FIU -Remarkably, FIU had an 85% win probably (ESPN) with 2:40 left in the game. -Smoke Harris (LaTech WR) 11 rec, 155 yds, 1TD
