@CoachT_x2 @Chandler_Rome @TheAthletic Tbd on the hierarchy of everything once a GM comes in, but this isn’t a dugout role as far as I’m aware. It’s more of a behind the scenes of the strategy and development in the organization as a whole. Josh Miller will remain pitching coach as was reported recently.

@jakedc6 He’s got good track record with the Rays. One person should never cause a generalization of bad. It’s also worth mentioning everyone is going to have good and bad. The string of unfortunate things is longer atm, but no one can actually say what specifically was Bags’ doing either

@htownlelo @jakedc6 That was a rumored reporting. Was stated after that he was never told such. Crane said at one point following Dana’s firing that they’ll have conversations of Espada’s future following the season. Confusion for most is why get perms for SEA if they were just going to let him go

@JunoVero @BenOndaTop Some people scrub their account for certain things. Likely the case here.

@GoStros11 @tybuttrey_ Wasn’t the pitch clock that made him change it.

@jonnymcintyre9 @SleeperAstros Kevin Alvarez is still developing, but if he takes a big step next year then he could always move up later in the season. A jump from AA to MLB isn't unheard of. Just depends on aggressiveness of promotions for next GM though.

@debsiucm @SleeperAstros Has nothing to do with getting rid of him and everything to do with the upcoming CBA negotiations. I'd say atm fans are anticipating a full-season loss to them which effectively makes this Pena's last season in Daikin as an Astro.

@JohnLaw02 @SleeperAstros There's an assumption on the likelihood that there's no season next year due to CBA talks which would make this season the last time he'll play in Daikin as an Astro unless there's something that changes in his contract. Guess that could depend on who the next GM is.

@foreverstros @hangingsliders I’d like to point out that Dana isn’t shy about being aggressive on call ups, so if he feels like Mayer is ready then he may even not make a triple A start before moving up. Whether that happens or is necessary we will see, but it’s certainly not impossible he could get the call

@KnowsStros @TheAstrosLocker Just a lot of unfortunate things all adding up. Not sure what Crane would expect from the next GM cause I expect Dana and Espada probably won’t be retained just strictly due to the season going how it has. More curious if he’ll lean to an analytics-heavy staff again.

@KnowsStros @TheAstrosLocker I think Dana is both a yes man and not, but hard to describe why I see him not being one. I also think it’s highly coincidental the moves he made this offseason turned out mostly poorly to this point. Just a lot of horrible luck most would say can’t be after so long but it is.

@JeremyBranham @SanAntonioTim Something that started with Tucker. I imagine with current poor streak for the team and doubt to re-sign him with rumors to his increasing monetary demand, Pena is growing more likely to move in this market. Still believe the approach to this deadline is similar to Braves’ 2021.

@KnowsStros @TheAstrosLocker Would argue the true downfall was letting click leave. He wasn’t aggressive how Crane wanted which I understand, but I think Click’s mindset to roster construction was ideal to the competitive mindset Crane wants. You also can’t build your farm if you keep dealing from it.

@JeremyBranham @SanAntonioTim Issue is reliance on those players only gets you so far with age. Carlos’ injury is unfortunate. Tucker would basically be worse right now than anyone else we’ve had this year assuming same performance between schedules/parks up to this point. There’s just too many factors.

@JeremyBranham @SanAntonioTim I disagree that he doesn’t spend. He’s right on or past the CBT every year for some time now. The unfortunate part is that the idea he doesn’t spend to keep them becomes untrue. We moved pieces to acquire these players people wanted to stay like JV and Correa at lesser cost. But

@KnowsStros @TheAstrosLocker You mean up until the scandal was revealed? What a coincidence. I think as annoying as it is to see Crane be as meddling as he’s appeared since 2019, I don’t think you can blame him. Got burned once and doesn’t want it to somehow happen again under his watch. I don’t blame him.

@JeremyBranham @SanAntonioTim There’s a lot at play here. I think there’s a lot of social media outrage to Dana and Espada. They’re just low hanging fruit. Compete as long as you can, but even the Cards had to have their own short rebuild and they always aimed to compete too. I feel a similar vibe here now.

@rposada2 @shaeferrr Would argue he’s just the manager that hired the real architect. But I see your point. He got burned by the scandal and I’d say it’s hard to not have your grip on things after that situation.

@SanAntonioTim @JeremyBranham Specifically mentioned .808 OPS vs righties which I assume is the point here. The bWAR is higher because Loperfido is an excellent defender, but offensively at this moment Sanchez has better stats vs righties. They’re both contributing just as much in the majors currently though.
