It’s hard for majority of public to comprehend the difference between volatility and risk as it relates to their investment portfolio. We spend a majority of our time educating on this aspect. When portfolios are going up it’s easy to do the right thing.
Jim- per our conversation last week I thought equity trade costs was decent barrier to canvas scaling but how quickly things change. The equity free commission war at the custodians is huge news for a platform like canvas. @patrick_oshag @jposhaughnessy

You will have a hard time finding any sub 300 million market cap businesses in your 401k, IRA, or taxable investment account via ETFs or mutual funds. It isn’t a asset class that fund companies can make material enough fees. So they don’t offer it.
