This is a sensible suggestion from @monzo founder Tom Blomfield. In the startup community I always hear "jokes" from founders about relocating to low CGT environments before exiting, and it's not fair. It's also great to see him advocating for paying tax in the comments.

This is a great article on the issues with how local property taxes are collected and spent in Ireland. I'm in favour of property tax - but it seems silly to ask councillors to take the political backlash from increasing the tax, without giving them agency to spend the increase.

The BBC news android app had basically not changed at all since I got my first smartphone in 2010. Back then most android apps were awful, and it became my goto news app because it was nice They updated it a month or two ago and now it's terrible. Like losing an old friend. :(

Finally! Dublin City Council for the first time today have confirmed in writing they are working on plans that include the delivery of a full-size playing pitch at the Marrowbone Lane Depot site. Still a long way to go, but a welcome step in right direction. @SportingLibo

I'd been using this phone booth as a navigational aid for two years, but now as a result of @Pidge's anti derelict street clutter vendetta I'm gonna have to actually check street signs. (if the tone isn't evident, I'm delighted to see the public realm cleaned up a bit in D8!)

Stephens green is a cool looking building, but a completely impractical shopping centre and I can see why they're changing it. It may only be 35 years old, but it's ageing well. The proposed new structure will age terribly imo.

I was saddened by the #dublinriots, but not ashamed. These riots were instigated by a fringe element who are angry that our city is home to many different cultures. If that's the case, well, we're doing something right. I'll be ashamed if we (people and govt) react badly.

The original plan for food delivery apps was that they'd get so much volume, they'd be able to drive many meals per trip, and even be able to cook centrally to cut costs But that never actually happened -- typically you're just buying an Uber ride for your food What went wrong?

Dublin City Council management proposed hiring around 100 new staff to do street cleaning in the city. All it took was for councillors to stop voting to cut the Local Property Tax this year. And in the last few minutes, a majority voted to cut it. No new cleaning staff, so.🤦‍♂️

The maths here is simple. If Ireland score four tries, but lose to Scotland by 21 points - south africa get knocked out. I think Ireland could make that happen if they really wanted it. 😄😄

If the current amount of Garda can't keep the street outside one of our largest Garda stations safe. How many more will we need to cover the rest of the city? More cops won't work long term. We need fewer bad kids. We get that with better social supports.
