In 1988 Dolly Parton pulled every 7th and 8th grader in Sevier County into a room and told them to pick a buddy. She made them sign a contract.. if BOTH graduate, she hands you both $500. One fails, nobody gets paid. The county dropout rate went from 35% to 6%. She handed out the checks herself. In 1989 she offered $500 to every kid in the county who wanted to go to the local college. When Gatlinburg burned in 2016, she sent 900 families $1,000 a month for six months. You've probably heard that part. Here's the part you haven't: The fund raised more than expected, so she showed up in May and handed every one of those families another $5,000 on top. Then she quietly put $3 million into the recovery group that handles the years after the news trucks leave. She built her county an entire hospital. She played a benefit concert in 2007, Dollywood and the Stampede matched it, and LeConte Medical Center opened in 2010 with a birthing unit and a women's center in it. In 2022 she started covering 100% of tuition, books, and fees for Dollywood employees. Full-time, part-time, AND seasonal. In 1991 she paid for a bald eagle sanctuary because the birds couldn't be released back into the wild, no press release. And when Hurricane Helene came through here in Western North Carolina, she wrote a personal check for $1 million and her companies matched it. She didn't owe North Carolina anything, but she helped us anyway. She started the Imagination Library because her daddy couldn't read or write. Before he passed, he told her it was the most important thing she ever did. Rest in Peace, Dolly 🇺🇸

@WashoeSchools So you cancelled school all the other days but not arguably the worst day for road conditions so far this week... No excused absences and multiple accidents on the route to school this morning. This is irresponsible at best

@klrdms @WashoeSchools Exactly. We saw several accidents and stuck vehicles within one mile of our school and chain control on nearby Mt. Rose. This is beyond irresponsible and reckless.

Hard to believe we lost Greg Biffle today. Instead of sharing a video of the plane crash I will share this. He spent so much of his time and money helping people after the hurricane and beyond. A great driver but a better man. Gone too soon.

REALTOR® Cristina Grossu Biffle and her husband Greg Biffle used their private helicopter to deliver food, water, and supplies to victims who were devastated by Hurricane Helene. Risking dangerous terrain, the couple coordinated rescue missions and delivered 500 Starlink

To call Greg Biffle a "hero" to the folks of Western NC, East Tennessee an understatement...Greg was the first to answer the call for help, and his phone didn't ring twice. Prayers for a great man and his family

🚨#BREAKING: The plane that has crashed in North Carolina is confirmed to be owned by Greg Biffle. Greg is the NASCAR driver and hero who flew hundreds of rescue missions in Western North Carolina in his helicopter after Hurricane Helene.

The @Unitedcajunnavy mourns the loss of @gbiffle and family members this morning. Greg was devoted to North Carolina and saved countless lives after Hurricane Helene. He was responsible for massive donations of propane that were distributed by our volunteers. Rest in power! 🫡💪

@UberEats why is my order ineligible for refund when the pic your delivery driver took shows an item wasn’t delivered? This is equal to theft.

@wxbrad Man, I wish you covered the RDU area! I still spend a ton of time in CLT with the family, so thank you for all the hard work and time you put into keeping folks safe and aware.

@WellsFargo doesn't take acct security concerns seriously. How can you give someone else my old compromised acct number & then show no concern or support when my new acct is now being charged for transactions made with my old acct number - which is now used by someone else.

@WellsFargo reissued my old checking account number that was compromised last March and now I'm seeing charges from the new customer on my account. But I can't get my money back for up to 10 business days? This is your mistake, WF. Fix it now.
