The H-1B was designed in 1990 and def needs an overhaul. Many commentators online show a very rudimentary understanding of how the program works. In many ways, it's a scapegoat for a much larger immigration issue. But legislating this whole program away would be a mistake. 7/7

Let me suggest that the Department of Labor should merge its immigration functions with USCIS so that there is just one agency doing this (ideally USCIS). You can move the folks at DOL to USCIS if you'd like -- but there is no actual reason to have 2 agencies doing this work.

Read the National Merit Scholarship semifinal lists of any state. Indian American kids are disproportionately represented. There's a culture of excellence in academics. It's valuable, its something we bring to America.
