Whenever a parent makes a post about their picky kid there is ALWAYS someone who comments “We did Baby Led Weaning with my kid, it’s so easy, you just feed them what you’re eating. My baby eats everything. She’s 11 months old.” and you just want to be like “aw, honey.”
This same genre of comment exists for people who talk about how hard travel with kids but it’s “we NEVER gave up traveling, we love to travel with our one 4 month old baby.”
@clhubes Other parents going through the Beige Phase:
@clhubes I mean… A baby who has never eaten white crackers, mac’n chz, buttered toast, cheese, or scrambled egg, will not ask for those foods. You can feed the baby whatever is on your plate and they will eat what they are exposed to. Toddlers eat raw kale, radishes, & onions.
@clhubes And the handwringing is all the more silly when you realize picky kids grow up most often to eat the same foods as everyone else. I feel like every other person in my friend group tells me how they would only really eat hotdogs and pizza until they left for college.
@clhubes I wrote my food aversion cookbook COLOR TASTE TEXTURE in support of folks like me. I’m an Autistic classically trained chef, and I encourage enthusiastic acceptance of sensory differences. Methods of working with needs.
@clhubes More throat throttling in my reactions but yeah
@clhubes So true! My oldest would eat anything until 16 months old. True story - one day he was eating green beans for a snack and *the very next day* rejected mint ice cream because it was green 😂 and disliked veggies after that day. He’s 19 and still picky but getting better… lol
