Also just to put this out there. DM/Bates verbally agreed with the Bengals on a deal and then a day later DM backed out of it realizing he could get more money (after talking to other agents and teams). That is why a new deal never happened.
I've shared this detail with a few people over the course of the last year. Others have heard similar details. There is only 1 side making ridiculous and false statements. I get that negotiations can be ugly but there needs to be some level of class. Neither DM or KC have class.
Bengals 1st offer (over 1 yr ago) was 17-18M AAV. DM laughed. After some convos the Bengals came up to 22M AAV. DM demanded 65M guaranteed (ridiculous amount for a player of this caliber) for a 22M AAV contract. Then told the team if the guarantees didn't go up then 30M AAV.
The #Bengals probably have offered something similar to the Pittman deal… Except it’s probably 3/75 but like 35ish guaranteed. This David M sees that as not 20mil per because he only counts guaranteed money when he leaks the info.

@codiki Agree, Jackson was likely over drafted a rd or 2 but it wasn’t like there were really any other good NT options. They’re at the mercy of the draft and they had to get a true nose so you take him early and hope he works out.
