No real reason for this. I just felt that the platform wasn’t providing me the news and discussion I was looking for. And fun interactions on Twitter with others have long gone.

Oros ⭐️⭐️ There’s a lot going on in this board game including a lot of unique mechanics and an interesting theme. But I also think it has too much going on that it’ll likely impede the flow of games. An alright civilization builder overall.

An ongoing collection of quick reviews of the shows and games I watched and played throughout 2023. I saw someone doing it and thought it was neat. Hopefully I remember to keep this updated :)

Summertime Rendering ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Wonderful show all around with good characters, visuals, and plot. I really enjoy a show with "smart" characters and this one executes it well with a strong lead who makes the best of his monster riddled, time looping, predicament.

Re:Creators ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️This will sound dumb, but this anime reminded me of Fate:Zero. There's a cast of unique characters, each with their own interesting story and motives who get caught up in a bigger plot that kept me entertained throughout the show. Good action to boot too!

Dorfromantik ⭐️⭐️I was interested after hearing that this game's adaptation was nominated for a board game award. It's quite nice being a simple game with a simple object, but I'm not sure it has enough meat or progression to keep me hooked for very long.

@SaffronOlive Would love to know your thoughts on Hearthstone’s minisets. They’re also a small group of cards that are released between full sets and help support recent archetypes. However, they feature unique themes and can be opened in packs of the latest set. hearthstone.fandom.com/wiki/Mini-set

The Intern ⭐️⭐️An alright movie with an okay plot but great characters. I liked how the characters were portrayed and interacted, but I just felt like it had one too many loose ends with an ending that tried to bundle it all together too quickly.

Fruits Basket: Prelude ⭐️⭐️ I'm not sure this was really worth being a movie. The plot was okay, but it didn't exactly expand on the world nor try to wow me with extra visuals or animations that anime movies typically have.

Fruits Basket: The final season ⭐️⭐️⭐️ it’s a wonder how much nicer a show flows when there isn’t as much filler or constant rotations of characters. I think it concluded the series nicely and held my interest despite the previous seasons.

A Lull in the Sea ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I'm pleasantly surprised by this show as I went in thinking it was a fairly generic drama featuring kids and love triangles. It panned out well by focusing on more than just relationships and with some interesting character and world developments.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 ⭐️⭐️⭐️Pretty typical shounen anime movie with cool fights and a fairly generic plot. I appreciate how tightly it fits all the stories and characters, but I don't think it was a particularly extraordinary movie.

Pandemic Legacy (Season 1) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I'm only a few months in, but I really like the additions that the Legacy format brings to the game. It turns what is a fairly simple game into one with a lot of welcome twists and challenges over a longer period of time.

Wildfrost ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I've been hunting for a game that could entertain me the same way Slay the Spire did, and I think Wildfrost does a very good job. It's difficult and requires more time and thinking each turn, but it's so wonderfully polished and designed.

Baba Is You ⭐️⭐️I really like puzzle games, but I don't think Baba is for me. The mechanics are cute and clever, but at the end of the day, it's still mostly a Sokoban (box pushing game) that lacks theming.

Organ Attack! ⭐️I'm a big advocate for short and simple games that can do a lot, but I don't think this game does that. Felt like it lacked interesting moments or decision points.

Dune: Imperium ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A fantastic game that merges worker placement and deckbuilding together in a wonderful manner. I will criticize its length and player balance, but I've enjoyed playing this every time.

Challenging but supportive. That’s a really nice way to view a good work environment I think.

@SaffronOlive I know alchemy cards are a bit iffy, but I’ve been playing Mothrider Calvary in the deck. It’s arguably the best token support card in historic.

Root (Board Game)⭐️⭐️⭐️ I've played a few games where each player is a different faction/character with their own actions and goals, but this is one of the better ones. Turns don't take too long and there's a good amount of interaction between everyone to help keep things fun.
