Why would that even be an ideal to strive for? Young people scrambling to build wealth while paying off a mortgage and student loans, and old people scrambling to spend it all before they die. Shouldn’t the ideal be that every family helps the next generation get established?

Related - often the motivation for a coup is the fear that if you allow the other side to win power then they won’t give it back. Constitutional monarchs will require elections to be respected, mitigating the need for a preemptive coup, leading to > stability.

Republicans won’t withhold funding from schools that allow boys to play in girls’ sports. Republicans unconsciously regard liberal elites as their rightful leaders. Republicans complain about their leaders, as followers do, but do not dare to supplant and rule over them.

What Elon is doing is a revolt by entrepreneurial capital against the professional-managerial class regime that otherwise everywhere dominates (including and especially large tech companies), and that same PMC (which includes the media) is treating it as an act of lèse-majesté.
