I think the truth, however much I hate it, is that I will end up crying over my kid’s online school at least three times a week.

@MagpieLibrarian Trying to explain this sort of thing to my pop-culture-worshipping 10-yr-old has been a challenge.

I hope white academic librarians are paying attention to #BlackintheIvory - it’s tempting to think we aren’t part of the problem, but we are. We have work to do.

If you are in academic, scholarly publishing, etc. ... #BlackintheIvory deserves your time, your reflection, and your reparation.

This is a friendly reminder that Library of Congress has rejected adding "White Privilege" as a subject heading twice.

Our apartment is leaking again. Nothing serious or torrential, but it’s worrying that it is a recurring issue, and it’s not great for already heightened anxiety levels.

But now we *all* know how to turn on the Zoom dance class and when exactly it is. Hopefully next week will be easier (if I keep saying this maybe it will actually happen).

I would normally be really happy about this, but I failed to get my daughter’s dance class up on Zoom on time. Now she is sad, her dad is sad, and I am sad. Work life balance is kicking my butt.

Taught a really fun class on Academic SEO today & things to consider when writing titles & abstracts. The students & instructor were interested & engaged & asked good questions!

Next week I’m talking to a graduate class about SEO for academics/researchers. I’ve already gathered a lot of info, but is there a resource you consider especially useful for new authors?

Me, yesterday, feeling all noble: “I’m not drinking out of solidarity with my kid, who is anxious & has to deal with it w/out meds or legal drugs & w/ my partner who gave up pot & misses it.” Me today: reconsidering.

Today is hard. I am jealous of your home offices. And desks. And lights you can use without waking others up in the morning. And ability to focus.

Unless you are living under a rock or have already perished from COVID-19, you've likely seen a YouTube video making the rounds where a medical doctor (wearing scrubs!) purports to give COVID-19 advice. (1/33)
