@thetalesoftayls I'd be mesmerized by her intelligence, constantly driven to catch up and eventually surpass her, but there's a paradox; if she were genuinely smarter than me, I'd never quite manage it, and the relationship wouldn't work because the polarity would be reversed.

Perhaps that kind of self deception is sometimes necessary, but it's ridiculous to act as though it makes no difference. It's not black and white, but on the spectrum of value, it definitely falls toward the lesser end.

I could watch an animal being slaughtered, knowing that's how the meat ended up on my plate, and eat it afterward, albeit less enthusiastically. I couldn't say the same for my girlfriend or wife.

@HallvardHolte @zerophoocus Would actually seeing a recording of it change how you feel? If so, why? The event itself is the same, regardless of whether you witness it. The only difference is your awareness of the details. Why should something be acceptable simply because it's hidden from view?

@lisavsworld It's fine if that is your preference, but there is plenty of evidence :) Even in my experience, when I’ve explained the jealousy and disgust components tied to this, many women just didn’t relate to it at all. They couldn't grasp it.

@lisavsworld From what I’ve seen, exposure to heavy drinking in the teenage years often leads to bad decisions, especially for girls, who totally wreck their self-worth without even realizing it. What actually differentiates people who handle it well from those who don't?
