Many orgs adopt social media platforms and use them to merely promote organizational activities. These organizations need to think strategically and develop a long term vision in order to utilize social media to advance organizational goals. #AUOA3
We should turn away from bad conventional participation, and focus on treating citizens like adults, i.e. providing factual info, letting people tell their stories, providing choices, making participation easy, etc; resulting in good participation activities and feedback. #AUOA3
Successful collaborators have: a common objective, complementary skills and goals, buy-in from all levels, shared advocacy efforts, and a recognition of the intangible benefits of partnership. If these aren't present then the organization should reconsider the partnership. #AUOA3
Citizens demand better results from govt & people think if govt were run as a business it would be more efficient with limited resources. But govt is responsible for providing many services without regard to profit so it measures performance differently than a business. #AUOA3
Today's society is turbulent, requires cooperation, & needs creative solutions. More people want to be involved in decision making, and while that may not lead to quick decisions, leaders need to advocate for diversity in these groups to achieve better solutions. #AUOA3
The strategic plan, rooted in the military, was effective when we could use historic trends to predict the future; but tech and globalization are spreading faster than traditional strategic planning & orgs need to focus on being adaptive & directive to survive the future #AUOA3
The mission and priorities of an organization can be reflected in its structure. It's important for the people in the structure to feel a sense of ownership of their "territory" to foster loyalty, commitment & higher performance in the workplace. #AUOA3
Globalization has changed the basic role of government. Government now needs to be the link between groups & countries, & needs to build collaborative partnerships across all aspects of governments, agencies, groups & businesses #AUOA3
