@DominicWingUK @Rainmaker1973 In 2009, Italian chemist Luigi Garlaschelli produced a shroud-like image using materials and techniques potentially available in medieval times. This wasn't a perfect reproduction, but it directly challenges the assertion that such an image is impossible to manufacture.

@DominicWingUK @Rainmaker1973 In 1988, three independent laboratories at Oxford, Arizona and Zurich radiocarbon-dated samples of the shroud. Their results placed the linen between AD 1260 and 1390, at a reported 95% confidence level. The findings were published in Nature in 1989.

@sila__2210 There is nothing that tells us the height of the upper step. So it's impossible to say how high the wall is exactly.

@FeiyanXie This only works for 4, 25, 64, 196, and 289. Besides the last one is a cube root, but using 3 works for 125,216, 343, 2744, 3375, and 4096. It stops working after that.

@linadreaamy Since square roots can be both +ve & -ve we get 2, -2, 4/3, -4/3, (5-i)/3, (i-5)/3, (5+i)/3, (i+5)/3

@lunadreaamy Square roots can be ±. For example, both 9 and -9 squared are 81 - then there are up to 16 answers to this problem because there are 4 square roots. Running through the combinations I get 5, -5, -2, 2, 3.5+1.5i, -3.5-1.5i, -3.5+1.5i, and 3.5-1.5i.

@newstart_2024 Since An Inconvenient Truth (2006): CO₂ up from ~382ppm → 430+ppm, global temps hit record highs (2023 warmest ever), seas rose ~7–8 cm, Arctic ice & glaciers shrank, and heat/rain extremes worsened. The film’s core predictions? Observed.

@kirawontmiss It's simple. Eat out almost anywhere in the world except the Americas. If your bill is $107.53 then you pay $107.53. Servers in those places are paid a decent wage and don't require tips.

@Seethemscatter2 @AutismCapital @k_ovfefe2 Most other nations on the Earth provide free or heavily subsidized education because those governments understand the economic value in having an educated population. The US just values Trump supporters more.
