⚡ GRID NEWS On Oct. 16, 2026, DOE announced its intent to provide up to $50 million in Defense Production Act funding for Virginia Energy's proposed project supporting large load growth in Virginia and West Virginia. The 48-month proposal, led by Virginia Energy with Appalachian Power, Potomac Edison and regional partners, pairs advanced reconductoring with Dynamic Line Rating on existing corridors. It would add an estimated 290 MW of transmission capacity across Appalachian Power's Virginia system, one to four years faster than conventional upgrades. The aim is to increase delivery capacity, reduce congestion and support growing demand. #gridreliability #dailygridintel #electricmarkets #transmission
