Late August in Portland is a time of dry, brown grass, parched plants and lonely water sprinklers fighting to keep tomato plants alive. At sunset, those water sprinklers are all beauty, especially if you know how to stand in their columns of water while keeping your camera dry.

Scattered along the windswept tundra east of Nome, Alaska, these isolated fishing cabins at Safety Sound are part of a centuries-old tradition of seasonal subsistence. Families return each summer to harvest salmon and whitefish from the braided lagoons and shallow creeks.

While staying in Madera Canyon in Arizona, near the border of Mexico, I was able to see these Wild Turkey males strutting; one of the great avian courtship displays in the world, and one of the weirdest.

In 2019, Hurricane Dorian hit the Abaco Islands, The Bahamas with sustained winds of 185 mph and storm surges over 20 feet. It was the strongest hurricane ever to strike the Bahamas, and it left the Abacos devastated. I was able to photograph the interiors of many homes in 2024.

While Malta’s northern beaches buzz with umbrellas and jet skis, Għar Lapsi stays quiet. No sand. No crowds. Just locals, limestone, and some of the clearest water on the island. Look up from the rocks and you’ll see Filfla, Malta's forbidden island, reserved for seabirds.

These richly colored dunes in Monument Valley are made of eroded Navajo Sandstone, the same rock that forms the monoliths surrounding them. Over millions of years, wind has ground those formations into fine grains and swept them into rippling patterns. #LandscapePhotography

Medinas are vanishing due to sprawl, overtourism, underdevelopment, climate and infrastructure neglect. The Medina of Tunis is one of the few that still breathes with daily life. UNESCO recognized the Medina for its architecture and uninterrupted urban life since the 7th century.
