@MWalkerWilliams @AnadrielAnna @aidthompsin You’ve done the “equivalence maths” twice for the house. Min wage in 1983 £3.24, house £30K. Min wage in 2024 £11.44 , house £300K+. So wages 3.5 times increase, house more than 10 times increase. Cash has been significantly devalued compared to assets.

@Gilly1044 Thee and me both mate. Combined with much more regular wee stops overnight I can’t remember the last time I slept for 8 hours straight. That said I often have issues remembering why I went upstairs …

@RichOnTheRadio @heelvsbabyface Agreed. Not great, but much more watchable with only a few relatively unobtrusive nods to “the message”. I was overjoyed to not have a song and dance routine awkwardly shoehorned in.

@StoutOrPorter @ConnorMWinter1 @heelvsbabyface It’s released at midnight on iPlayer, then broadcast on BBC One at 18:50, pretty much the TV slot it has always had.

@StanielStay @FionaMPartridge @_manishkapoor @MileHighJoe1 @jeremytodd @thehowie @Jake_Kanter @elonmusk @BBC Admittedly jail terms are for non payment of the fines imposed and rare, but the 2 people jailed for that in 2019 are arguably ultimately there for the original sin of not paying the licence. Debatable, I agree, but not “absolute nonsense”.

@FionaMPartridge @_manishkapoor @MileHighJoe1 @jeremytodd @thehowie @Jake_Kanter @elonmusk @BBC I am also a Brit. The BBC is accused of bias to the left by the right, and to the right by the left. Its funding is protected under specific UK law, and refusal to pay can lead to imprisonment. It can easily be thought of as government funded, and many in UK think that.

@Gilly1044 Of course whether or not they are serving should have no bearing on those who no longer are but are now expressing their opinions as citizens with some relevant past experience.

@Simon_Lucy @spayrechaynge @drewsparkley @AndrewM3105 @rei88797312 @SueSuezep @SebastianEPayne It is the very definition of arcane. Other state employees are either dismissed or resign with no such historical anachronistic carry on.

@Gilly1044 @CDP1882 For the record I disagree with you on Pen Farthing, I but not going to die taking that particular hill. Sooner chat about who is drinking most in their retirement.

@Gilly1044 @CDP1882 Yeah, I got all that, but “you’re not in the army so your opinion doesn’t count” line is a poor debating point. Though his fresh faced piccie in uniform response was a corker.
