These 3 Councillors announced they'll be making an announcement about new ideas for affordable housing in Stoney Creek. May I ask, respectfully of course Brad, what the hell have the 3 of you been doing since December? @BCouncillor @jeffbeattie2014 Matt Francis
@gcrawfordHamOnt @BCouncillor @jeffbeattie2014 I guess my question is… why has it taken this action to get them to develop a solution? Does this mean that prior to now they were just paying lip service to the idea that are in an affordable housing emergency?
@gcrawfordHamOnt @BCouncillor @jeffbeattie2014 Interested to see the details of their Made in Stoney Creek solution. If it includes more affordable housing in Riverdale, they need to be reminded that Riverdale isn't part of Stoney Creek and never has been. It's part of the former City of Hamilton and Saltfleet Township.
If they were so interested, why did they refuse to even consider Councillor Cassar's motion? A lot of planning/thought went into that proposal, and they dismissed it out of hand. Because they want to avoid affordable housing in that location. Period. They had no problem with the James Lee Suites (Life Lease residences) adjacent to Veterans' Lane.
@gcrawfordHamOnt @BCouncillor @jeffbeattie2014 “A plan developed elsewhere” so… Hamilton. A plan developed in Hamilton, by Hamilton Staff, for a neighbourhood in HAMILTON
@gcrawfordHamOnt @BCouncillor @jeffbeattie2014 What ideas, affordable housing works in all communities, people who live in affordable housing they work, go to school and are participants within their communities
@gcrawfordHamOnt @BCouncillor @jeffbeattie2014 Stop judging people who live in affordable housing, or potentially will we need to stop the stigma
@gcrawfordHamOnt @BCouncillor @jeffbeattie2014 As a Winona resident myself the last 20 years, previous to that raised and lived in W1, W2 my real big issue with this statement is they still view themselves as separate from the city of Hamilton. We amalgamated over 20 years ago!
