I mentioned this in the post but want to give “Systems Performance” its own shoutout. I strongly recommend this for anyone looking to understand your code, how it runs, performs, and the system surrounding it. Am reading and taking notes, it’s like a lightbulb went off.
You know what doesn’t work with that fancy new chat not? Asking it for advice. It’s easily swayed by volume of information not accuracy of details. I asked it this: Does REDACTED_DATABASE have safe transactions? It spit out to me marketing material not proof material.

I think one can objectively say that over the last decade, the complexity that exploded in tech didn’t always impact the product’s bottomline in a meaningful way, but optimized for certain org structures and engineering practices, which benefited engineers more than the company.
