Hey @drakewla! You're from Lintgen, right? I'm in desperate need for someone who lives in the area. Can you help me out? You'd be my lifesaver!

@drakewla Do you happen to know someone in the area who might be able to help me out? Sorry for asking but I can't leave any stones unturned :)

@drakewla Thanks a lot for your reply! I guess you're quite some distance away then. Thanks anyways, greatly appreciated!

3 smaller boards, upper/lower metal plates, and 6 removable screws serving as bolts hold the two pieces in place. To maintain mm precision in respect to the hull crossbeam mounts, the apparatus was installed with a partially cut deck board. #boatbuilding

Finalized the hulls except for hatch/cleat installation and painting. Working on the deck. The most critical TODO is that the deck (comprised of a balsa composite board) must be transportable in two pieces to fit the trunk (too heavy for roof rack transportation). #boatbuilding

Finally found an FFP2 mask that's comfortable to wear ;) #wearamask #for #2kpaint

Installed slip wheel mounts. Catamaran hulls are now fully closed and laminated with glass fiber, ready for (additional) sanding. #boatbuilding

1. Added 4 boat cleat mounts 2. Waterproofed the bolt shaft for the hull connection 3. Extended the hulls a) to move center of buoyancy (COB) further aft and b) to increase buoyancy from 424 kg to 503 kg 4. Closed 4 out of 6 bulkhead-separated hull compartments #boatbuilding

@devozerov And, as with SE, premature optimization is the root of all evil ;) Fellow powerlifter over here.

Water pipes are suprisingly versatile. DIY pull-up rack. Assembly was a workout on its own, though :)

Three layers of glass fiber and carbon fiber strips. Temporarily assembled to be able to complete the hull connection - as difficult as expected. Nice to see a preview of the final result though :) #boatbuilding

Laminating (unidirectional) carbon fiber to strengthen and straighten the inner hull sides (pictured) and the curved front of the outer hull sides. It's quite messy but at least I seem to get the hang of it - slowly... #boatbuilding

Shortening the bulkheads (the wood strips dividing the hull) to make room for the metal deck connection. Finally, a plan that should work :) #boatbuilding

The balsa-based deck is stable enough - for one person at least :) Given the underlying support structure, stability should be the least of my worries. On to my main source of headaches: the beam/hull connection #boatbuilding

Pivoted to using fiberglass-reinforced wood for the boat. Two raw hulls done. Working on the deck now. It's based on a balsa sandwich panel supported by wood stringers and aluminum cross beams that connect to the hulls. Will it be stable enough? We'll see soon :) #boatbuilding

Initial glass and carbon fiber prototyping with two mostly raw catamaran hulls in the background. Steep learning curve ahead :) #boatbuilding

@capi Cool, calls for side-by-side boating :) Aiming for 1.1 kW. The general limit for license-free motor boats is 4.4 kW and it seems to apply to Traunsee as well.
