Earlier today our 6 year old went missing in a city I've never been to before. It was a busy street. We turned around and he was gone. We started looking. After a minute I was scared. This has never happened before. We found two police officers. Their English wasn't good but they understood what was happening. My wife, older son and my dad were running around the area. I stayed with the police. 10-15 minutes had passed. I was waiting so I sent a tweet describing the situation and asked for help. All I could think about was how important the first few minutes could be in a situation like this, especially if he had been abducted. I got a lot of helpful messages straight away. People giving advice, sharing the post, and sharing resources. To those people I just want to say thank you. I also got jokes, people telling me I was a bad parent, that I was stupid. I often get those types of messages and usually they don't impact me. But in that situation and in that moment I can't imagine the pure evil it takes to say something like that. 20 minutes had passed and still nothing. My wife came back and I couldn't wait any longer. She stayed with the officers while I went looking. As I came back the cops were being told he had been found. Up until that moment I had been running on adrenaline. As soon as they said they had him I broke. I couldn't stop crying. We all ran to him. He had found his way back to the hotel. He was scared but unharmed. I hugged him as hard as I could. We all did. It's been a couple of hours. My body is still in shock. Those few minutes were the most scared I've been in my life.
@iamharaldur I am so glad this ended well. I am equally sorry that people decided to be cruel instead of empathetic.
@iamharaldur Brother… my worst nightmare. I’m so glad this had a happy ending for your family 🙏
@iamharaldur I don't even judge that lady whose kid jumped into the gorilla enclosure. I have 4 boys. I'm so glad you're kid is safe.
@iamharaldur Pro tip for anyone else who finds themselves in this situation. Start shouting out loud what the kids is wearing as well as their name and other people will join in.
@iamharaldur SMH, com'on man .... Glad story had a happy ending, I'd bet a milly that won't happen again.
@iamharaldur Glad it ended well. I can't imagine the fear y'all must have felt.
@iamharaldur interactions on the internet are like drinking from a fire hose
Man Im sorry people were horrible. That mustve been terrifying. So many bad things happen to kids and they DO GET ABDUCTED. All sorts of sickos out there and it doesnt take long for that to happen Im glad to hear he was safe. Shame on all the people mocking you. What if that were YOUR child? Id be in fucking hysterics.
@iamharaldur glad everyone was reconnected, it’s a shame how some people on the internet think it’s acceptable to spread negativity, but love always wins
