@joymorrissey I'm increasingly concerned that some elected representatives seem to want to ignore public health advice and undermine those giving it, because it's not popular with some constituents. You're elected to serve all of them, not just those who voted for you.

@christophepoug @techevangelista @the_tweedy I suspect there's a difference between the specialists & generalists - where the specialists are often grateful for all the information they can get to treat you... and the generalists who see themselves as gatekeepers & don't want to be replaced by Dr. Google.

@hellostarshine_ @DanTee2Tech @the_tweedy @bennessb Not for the first time I wonder about the wisdom of allowing / requiring GPs to be gatekeepers. Like their own receptionists, I wonder if it encourages / forces them to see themselves as bouncers for Club-NHS rather than facilitators. Sometimes it'd be nice to skip that hurdle.

Biological essentialism & trad-cultural restraints were rejected, but characters e.g. dwarf women & witches, fought to identify with & represent their gender freely.

@abi_carey Those fountains don't seem to have ever been designed with bottles in mind (Based on the weird angles I've had to contort to) - but this is probably a universal thing now cause of COVID. Infection control is often anti-sustainable - though we're seeing welcome innovations.

(Cheated @terryandrob out of some dough there, but they are amongst my most treasured & heaviest possessions ++ thanks to @iamafterhours for many v. special editions.)

@Discworld_com @rhipratchett The sheer volume of books scared me, and COM went over my head. A fan on the #BTTS IRC channel (@Twittagazze) suggested the character-based reading order, and their recommendation lingered in my head - but it wasn't until I picked up Making Money on a whim that I was hooked.
