Sometimes, if I’m not on call, I uninstall Slack AND email on the weekend. I am really bad about reflexively checking opening these apps for no real reason.

Choose the right tool for the team. Too often ppl choose what they think is the right tool for the job without thinking about the team and the tech strategy. You end up with too many different technologies you have to support and maintain and it causes maintenance problems.

Remember, your git history will outlast your move from BitBucket to GitHub to GitLab. It will outlast your move from Campfire to HipChat to Slack. It will outlast your move from Bugzilla to Redmine to Jira. It is the single best place for explaining why your code does anything.
