Jamie currently works with @EastAyrshire helping change lives as a community worker. His achievements include graduating university with distinction, being nominated student of the year 2019, had taken part in the BBC Extraordinary Portraits and becoming a dad.

For the last few weeks I’ve heard so many people bring up how when they heard I grew up in the care system they were concerned for my partner and her daughter. I faced the same stigma from peers in primary 5, the stigma never ends, the public education needs to continue.

I’ve started a meditation course on a Wednesday night and the session there I cried, I didn’t ask for it, I didn’t feel it, I just cried. I cried this single tear leading to a flood while in a deep practice, I felt my consciousness arrive after so many years disassociating.

Believe your story, never doubt your power to tell the world what happened to you or what you did to overcome adversity. When I’m struggling I look back at all the media around my story and look at all the beautiful comments left by inspired folks. It’s bloody uplifting

There’s a real talent in being able to teach someone to cry with a purpose. Crying is the eviction and expulsion emotion’s attached to memories. I have enjoyed teaching myself to cry and then to teach myself self soothing! If only more of us learned to cry with a purpose.

Recently finished EDMR therapy and learned something so valuable at the end. I am consumed with the need to be in therapy because without it I feel unsupported and scared to just be me on my own, it’s a dependency. EDMR tho has truly helped me overcome my deep rooted trauma
