Striking how the 1961 speech of General De Gaulle is still topical. During a press conference, General De Gaulle reacted to the Kremlin's coup in Berlin in 1961 by advocating strong-arm tactics against the Soviets. “In short, if they want, by force, to reduce the positions and cut off the communications of the Allies in Berlin, the Allies must, by force, maintain their positions and maintain their communications.
