I just returned from my second trip to Kabul in recent months, trying to resolve the cases of missing or killed Americans. There are new wedding buildings across the city. The people want peace. Beware of men in the world backed by outsiders drawing on Gaza. Think of Moscow.

Sixty Afghan male professors have resigned in protest of the Taliban ban on girls attending a university. The Taliban inner circle is divided. Hibatullah Akhundzada, the leader, is the hardliner here. More men oppose him than support him.

In the jihadist movement, Al-Z, more respected than al-Baghdadi, is now a martyr. The Levant will mourn his death; Arabia will be happy. Monarchies and dictators will rejoice; the Arab street will be angry. The Taliban are angry and ashamed. They failed to protect their guest.

Taliban are appointing any mullahs to gov't positions, yet want to start colleges for women. They talk to the EU and Qatar is helping them with the U.S. They released the women they arrested for protesting, yet complain that Kabul is like Europe. Two sides of a man they are.

Biden's decision to withhold money from Afghanistan, shows the Taliban that the US will not recognize their gov't, which will only harden the T, anger their backers, and hurt the poor who cannot afford to leave.

The Taliban are under pressure from Iran, China, Russia, the EU, Qatar, to change name to the Islamic state (not emirates) of Afghanistan. They will announce leader, and cabinet, which will surprise Afghan followers, Friday. They need int'l recognition & money. Look for changes.

How did the Taliban move, like electricity, an Afghan said, taking provinces it never had before, on the road bin Laden's money had to open. Why did well-armed militias, a 300,000 man well-armed army, police force, suddenly give in to 65,000 man guerrilla army. This was planned.
