My thesis amendments were passed! I'm so delighted, and also incredibly relieved not to have to touch the thesis again (at least until I start work on publication...)

Anyone else feel like their thesis has taken all their brain power and left nothing over? The (objectively simple) process of submitting thesis amendments left me in so much confusion that I submitted the wrong files first and had to call a friend to help fix it! 😂😓 #dclinpsy

I passed my viva with minor amendments - but now I actually have to do them! I'm racing against the train as I head to the east of France - how far through the amendments can I get before my holiday officially starts? #thesis #dclinpsy

Feeling pleased with myself about teaching I delivered today on affirmative practise! I managed to slip in an image from Adventure Time *and* I got to talk about the uncomfortable overlaps between affirmation and tokenism.

The day before my viva, and I've been having dreams that I'm a med student being asked to carry out a surgery that I've never seen before, awkwardly wracking my brains to try to remember the steps! I'm not sure I need an expert analyst to make sense of that one... 😅 #dclinpsy

25 days and a four day weekend later, and I am *just* starting to feel like I have some energy back after thesis submission. It has been exhausting beyond what I predicted... and my heart goes out to those of my friends still slogging through! #dclinpsy

I have laboured all day on thesis edits... and only succeeded in cutting out 2,000 words. Feels like an extraordinary mismatch of effort versus outcome. Still 2,000 more to cut... and I already feel like I've been cutting down to bone! 😬 #thesis

First day in a new placement today! I'm in a sexual health service which I hadn't even thought about before it was allocated to me but feels like a lovely fit. I felt so warmly welcomed and am so excited about all the things I can get involved with over the next six months!

Taking a moment today in my small stolen garden with my cat! In the midst of #thesis it has been hard to remember how to rest - I often feel like I'm living with a ticking clock under my ribs. So I've been particularly grateful for some peaceful moments over the weekend.

petition.parliament.uk/petitions/6135… It's shameful that the UK gov has said it won't protect trans people from conversion therapy - part of a wider and ongoing pattern in the UK of trans people being targetted and their needs ignored. Petition here - let's try to keep this on the agenda!

Last day of placement 5 today! I leave it trailing tasks and feelings behind me - like a boat pulled free of an anchor but still trailing the broken rope. Cargo of important learning alongside ballast of unresolved frustrations. Hardly the smooth sailing on that I had hoped for!

My brother is occupying himself while quarantining for Covid by doing some of the psychology experiments I've told him about on his baby (not the mean ones!) Does this count as indirect psychology input? 😂

Final day of UEL #DClinPsy lectures today (still anticipating a mysterious ending workshop in July.) Strange to end online - experiencing a personal milestone alone with my computer!
