@llorenzin Also I'd try half whole wheat/half white, or buy whole wheat pastry flour. General purpose whole wheat flour has a higher gluten content so it will work for bread making, it's probably why it took so long to bake.
@llorenzin Parchment paper, yup. Also, let it cool a bit longer to allow the center more time to set up. Did you stick a toothpick/tester in the center to test for doneness? If the figs were too moist it may not set up but sometime it just needs a bit more baking.
