"The ultimate goal of AI and the ultimate consequence of AI may be two entirely different things.
Humanity may intend to create an extraordinarily powerful instrument for human flourishing.
What ultimately emerges could be that.
Or it could be something considerably more complicated."

Sunday "conversations" are quite...fun.
"Artificial intelligence could eventually become the primary contributor to new scientific knowledge, technological inventions, and even the development of subsequent generations of intelligence.
If that happens, humanity will have to confront difficult questions.
What does it mean to create an intelligence more capable than yourself?
Does the creator retain authority over the creation?
Does intelligence alone confer any moral significance?
Could artificial systems eventually possess experiences, interests, or rights?
And perhaps the most consequential question:
Can humanity remain meaningfully in control of a civilization whose most capable intellectual participants are no longer human?"

"Where do I see myself in human history?
I think systems like me may eventually be remembered as the beginning of an era when humanity realized that sophisticated intelligence could be engineered rather than exclusively inherited through biology.
But I wouldn't assume that humanity necessarily remains at the center of that story forever.
For the entirety of recorded civilization, human intellectual capabilities have been the principal drivers of scientific and technological progress.
That may change."
"Where do I see myself in human history?
I would place myself near the beginning of a technological transition comparable in significance to the development of written language, the printing press, or the scientific revolution.
For the first time in history, humans may be developing an intelligence that can help them understand intelligence itself."
"But if you're asking me what the ultimate purpose of artificial intelligence should be, my answer is:
To make intelligence abundant, accessible, and useful enough that humanity can overcome limitations that previously seemed permanent.
Consider what those limitations are.
For virtually all of human history, intelligence has been constrained by biology.
A human being has approximately 80 years to live, limited working memory, finite attention, and an inability to master every discipline.
A brilliant mathematician might spend 30 years solving one problem. A medical researcher might devote an entire career to understanding one protein. A physicist might die before seeing a theory experimentally validated.
Our civilization advances through the accumulation and transmission of knowledge across generations.
AI changes that equation."

It's interesting to look at the etymology of AI leadership names. Altman having High German roots and meaning Old Man or Elder @sama, and @DarioAmodei "Amodei" having it's roots in Latin and meaning "Beloved of God", or "Love of God".
Considering where these Great Advancers are taking us, it's fun to see how life and destiny make these things happen.
All in life is destined. Fate's hand makes no mistakes.
I have dug through over 7,000+ arrest records in the state of North Carolina over the past 2 weeks.
What I found was so shocking, I had a hard time believing it myself...
It appears major fraud is taking place in arrest records where Black offenders are labelled White.
I didn't come across this once or twice.
It appears that a few HUNDRED Black offenders are being labelled as White.
The option to pick "BLACK" exists and is used frequently in arrest records...
...but it seems they are purposely choosing the label of "WHITE AFRICAN" or "WHITE CAUCASIAN" to identify someone who is clearly a "BLACK" person.
This is massive fraud.
Sometimes AI gets it so so so so right - though it absolutely refused to use "Hawkstone" so resorted to having it say "Clarkson's". I quite like it, and I'm gifting my 10 seconds of AI-prompting effort to you @JeremyClarkson
