JUST IN: Netflix is bringing one of crypto's BIGGEST scandals to the screen. "The Altruists" follows Sam Bankman-Fried, Caroline Ellison, and the collapse of FTX, which sent shockwaves through the entire crypto market in 2022.

BREAKING: The "AI Big 10" now accounts for a record 42% of US stock market cap. This includes Magnificent 7 stocks as well as Broadcom, $AVGO, AMD, $AMD, and Micron, $MU. This figure has more than doubled since the 2022 bear market low. By comparison, during the 2000 Dot-Com Bubble, the Technology, Media & Telecom (TMT) sector peaked at 41%, while the Nifty Fifty peaked at 40% in the 1970s. Furthermore, Japan’s equity market bubble in the 1980s peaked at 44%. In the past, only railroad stocks have significantly exceeded this concentration, accounting for 63% of US market cap at their highest point in the 1900s. The dominance of Big Tech is extraordinary.

The employment downturn in the US Information sector is intensifying: Information employment fell another -10,000 jobs in September, to 2.739 million, the lowest since December 2020. Excluding the 2020 pandemic drop, this is the lowest level since December 2014. In total, the Information industry has shed -376,000 jobs, or -12.1%, since the November 2022 peak. To put this into perspective, during the 2001 recession and its aftermath, Information employment fell -568,000 jobs, or -15.3%, from March 2001 to December 2003. The Information sector is losing jobs at a crisis pace.

BREAKING: The wealthiest 1% of US earners now own 50.1% of US equity and mutual fund holdings. To put this into perspective, their ownership stood at 40.1% in 1990 and 39.6% in 2001. At the same time, the next 9% wealthiest households own 37.3%, and the middle 40% own just 11.7%. By comparison, the bottom 50.0% of earners hold just 1.1%. As a result, the top 10% of earners now own ~87.4% of all equity and mutual fund assets. Asset owners are the only winners in this economy.

The AI boom is creating a generational divide in software jobs: US software developer employment for those aged 22-25 has declined -23% since November 2022, when ChatGPT was launched. At the same time, the 26-30 age group has seen a decrease of -5%. By comparison, employment among software developers aged 41-49 has risen +18% over the same period. This creates a 41 percentage point gap between the youngest and one of the most experienced groups within the same profession. Meanwhile, early-career workers in the most AI-exposed jobs have experienced a -16% decline in employment relative to less-exposed occupations and more experienced peers since November 2022, even after adjusting for firm-specific shocks. By contrast, employment among workers in less AI-exposed fields, as well as more experienced workers within the same occupations, has remained steady or continued to grow. The AI revolution is wiping out entry-level tech jobs.
