When St. John Paul II's June 2nd 1979 homily in Victory Square, Warsaw, was interrupted by the Faithful singing the Laudes regiæ; Christus vincit! Christus regnat! Christus imperat!, it was clear that Communism in Poland was doomed.

Roger Scruton recalls the exact moment he became a conservative during the 1968 Paris riots: “When I looked down the street and saw all these rowdy students throwing stones at policemen, I just said to myself, ‘Whatever they believe, I believe the opposite.’”

🚨🇫🇷 Holy sh*t... "They came prepared. They had the addresses of town halls. They had addresses of Jewish shop owners. In a street in Marseille, all businesses owned by Jews were set on fire. Businesses run by Muslims weren’t." (French journalist Paul Amar) Writer: Michael x.com/JeremBenhaim/s…

Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere The ceremony of innocence is drowned; The best lack all conviction, while the worst Are full of passionate intensity. W.B. Yeats

The final minute of Secretary Marco Rubio’s address in Athens is truly spellbinding if you listen closely. This will go down as one of the greatest speeches ever delivered by a Secretary of State. He perfectly weaved in the history of ancient Greece to show why Western civilization is worth fighting for. Most importantly, it was a warning to the rest of Europe about what could be lost if the West forgets where it came from. RUBIO: “But Europeans and our friends across the West must relearn the lessons our forefathers took from this place and from its history.” “The history of Greece does not just offer us a glimpse of our institutions in the earliest forms. The history of Greece shows us an image of ourselves.” “It shows us that ours is the inheritance of great heroes and we should be proud, intensely proud, where we come from.” “We should marvel at what our forefathers carved out of this countryside.” “The story of our civilization is the greatest story ever known to man, and it began here with the first men and women of the West, from them, from them we can rediscover the virtues, the courage and the strength to confront the dangers that we face in our time.” The entire place erupted in applause at the end. That was a special moment from Rubio.

In 2015, at the ECHO Klassik Awards, pianist Menahem Pressler, then 92 years old, was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award. After accepting the award, he asked if he could sit down at the piano and play a short piece. He chose Chopin’s Nocturne in C-sharp minor. There was no orchestra, just a piano and a man who had devoted his entire life to music. The piece is not long, but under Pressler’s fingers, each note seemed to unfold slowly, delicately, and intimately, like a story being told through sound.

Hard to take seriously the philosophers who deny personhood to unborn babies but apply it to AIs.

The abortion industry is oh-so-matter-of-fact in describing what a woman will see after taking the abortion pill: "You will pass blood, clots, a fetus, and a placenta. It is okay not to look. The fetus will be several inches long, and you may see a head, arms, and legs.…" What to do? Easy. Flush the dead child down the toilet or wrap her body up like "household waste" and put it "in the garbage." Diabolical. Read the column below by my @EPPCdc colleague George Weigel

George Weigel, William E. Simon Chair in Catholic Studies @EPPCdc: "“Reproductive health” and “reproductive freedom” (a usage coined by the recently deceased Gloria Steinem) were, are, and always will be euphemisms deployed to hide the truth of what happens in an abortion."

Music videos are dying because videos like this are being overlooked for the Taylor Swift payola train. I’ve never seen this before last night but it was beautifully executed and made me want to learn more. Instead Taylor Swift won for the 4th year in a row.
