@Cernovich Your anecdotal observation is not the norm. While there are obviously bad firms, it remains a viable industry because median / avg returns in Private Equity are actually good.

@honam @HarryStebbings I'd also argue vast majority of those are what I call "bull market VC funds." Folks making 100s of spray-and-pray checks because they "have access." Not a sustainable investment strategy through cycles (no process/discipline/parameters). Megafunds are better off hiring scouts.

And there you have it, after ~3yrs: Our VC portfolio generated responsibly, but w conviction. Where we don't just get beta, nor build a VC infrastructure overnight. But we are still able to deploy meaningful $ w good-enough filters that set us up for success.
